The major awards introduced in 2010 will be continued on in 2012 in recognition of the service and good work executed by community banding
THE BAND OF THE YEAR
This prize, sponsored by the Lions Club of Mount Gambier, will be awarded to the participating band that the award panel believes, most typifies the Lion's logo We Serve.
Bands that nominate will be assessed on their performance at the festival, including their promptness and compliance on entry details, along with their response to the questionnaire they are required to complete. The award comprises the presentation of a perpetual trophy and the cash grant of $2,000
THE MUSICAL DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR
The KEA Company - Camper Vans and Motor Homes - have generously supported this award for the musical director who the panel believes has contributed substantially to the band movement generally in the previous year. This award gives the chosen person 7 days usage of a KEA deluxe 2 berth camper with shower and toilet to enjoy some relaxation and recreation to better serve their band in coming days. The award must be taken within the following 12 months, however, is not available from December 15th to January 15th nor on school holidays in the state where it is utilized.
